AI Transparency & Governance
We are committed to the responsible, transparent, and lawful use of artificial intelligence ("AI") in our services. This page outlines how we govern our AI-powered features to ensure they are used ethically and effectively.
Use of the AI Artwork Analyzer is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to use this feature at any time by simply not uploading an image.
1. Our AI System: The Artwork Analyzer
Our AI Artwork Analyzer tool uses machine learning models hosted on Google Cloud Platform to generate automated insights based on user-submitted images. It is designed to provide informational analysis and cultural context, not definitive authentication or financial valuation. No persistent user profile or behavioral tracking is created through the use of this tool.
2. What the AI Does—and Does Not Do
- Provides: Informational analysis of artwork style, technique, and potential context based on recognized patterns.
- Does Not: Authenticate artworks, provide financial valuations, or make legal determinations.
- Does Not: Identify or profile private individuals. It is specifically instructed to recognize the signature or seal of our featured artists as part of its art-historical analysis, but does not use facial recognition or other biometric identification techniques.
3. Data Usage & International Transfers
User-submitted images are processed by the AI model solely to generate an analysis for that specific request. Processing occurs through Google Cloud services and may take place in multiple global regions, including the United States.
We do not use your submitted images to train or improve our or any third-party AI models. For comprehensive details on how we protect your data during international transfers, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
4. Logic, Limitations, and Potential Biases
The AI generates insights by identifying visual patterns and correlating them with the vast art-historical data on which the underlying models were trained. This is a probabilistic process, and the "explanation" provided is the AI's interpretation of those correlations.
All AI systems have limitations. The outputs may reflect biases or gaps present in the training data. It may not fully capture the cultural, historical, or personal nuance of an artwork. The analysis is generated without human intervention and may contain inaccuracies.
5. Human Oversight
The AI-generated outputs are intended to be assistive and informational, not authoritative. We encourage users to apply their own independent judgment and to consult with qualified art professionals for formal appraisals or authentication. Our team does not review or verify the analysis for each individual request.
6. Questions or Concerns
If you have any questions or concerns about our use of AI, the outputs generated by our tools, or our data governance practices, please do not hesitate to contact us through our Contact Form.
